Halloween in June: Theatre Bizarre Fans Revel at Documentary Funding Party

Earlier this week I did a story about the history of Theatre Bizarre and the new effort to create a documentary about "the greatest masquerade on earth".

So, Thursday night I headed over to the Crofoot in Pontiac to check out the scene.

Before the doors opened, just after 8pm, there was already a line of people dressed as angels, devils and all other manner of characters - funny, sexy and horrific. It was truly "Halloween in June", not to be confused with "Christmas in July".

In the Crofoot ballroom, and out on the patio, performers entertained the costumed revelers. Various bands and fire handlers wowed the crowd while Detroit performance art legend Satori Circus did a set on the ballroom stage.

But the biggest roars from the crowd came when filmmakers Grey Bredow and Per Franchell premiered the official trailer from the Theatre Bizarre documentary. Check it out below!

The party also launched a new website for Theatre Bizarre: http://theatrebizarre.com/

The filmmakers also premiered a new website for the documentary: http://www.theatrebizarredoc.com/ As well as a an effort by the filmmakers to fund the documentary through crowd funding: http://www.indiegogo.com/theatrebizarredoc

The Theatre Bizarre documentary is expected to be completed some time next year.
