WDET's Amy Miller speaks with Detroit Federation of Teachers (DFT ) president Steve Conn about his new position and why teachers opinions of him have changed since the previous election which he lost. Conn says it proves that teachers did not want the status quo.

He says the state has been using DPS as a piggy bank for years to fund other things including businesses.

Conn says the DPS school Board and DFT can unite around a lot of things including cancellation of debt that state has created and getting rid of the state control. Laura and Stephen field calls about the interview with Conn with listeners offering their solutions to the problems with the district.
