Bow to Bridge: A Violinist's Ode to Her Instrument

Following a series of sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall, the celebrated Sphinx Virtuosi come to The Berman Theatre for another Signature Series concert, featuring violinists Danielle Belin and Randall Goosby. The Sphinx Organization is a national non-profit, headquartered in Detroit that focuses on helping develop very talented young Black and Latino classical musicians. Newly appointed to the full-time Violin Faculty at the University of Michigan School in Ann Arbor, Danielle Belen is a seasoned pedagogue who creates remarkable sounds with the help of a 1709 Allesandro Gagliano, from The Mandell Collection of Southern California. Over a performance of J.S. Bach's Chaconne from Solo Partita No. 2 in D Minor, Bellen spoke about her relationship with the instrument when she spoke with WDET's Travis Wright. the Sphinx Virtuosi play the Berman Theatre on Saturday, December 13, 2014.
