“Waves” by Gosh Pith

No doubt and for good reason, the dubby, trap-pop put forth by this new duo called Gosh Pith is garnering the group praise from the Motor City and beyond.

Plan For the Weekend w/ Culture City

Third Wave: Live Music & Auction Fundraiser @ UFO Factory

Friday @ 7 PM | Detroit

Here’s an opportunity to dig into Detroit culture and help sustain its creative future. There are a few very talented, driven and creative folks trying to open a much-needed musical instrument shop in Detroit. They have a location, they just need a little push to make it happen. Take in tunes from decibel devils, rap duo Passalacqua as well as New Orleans-style jazz from the Gabriel Brass Band, the intimate indie sounds of Little Animal, and everything-plus-the-kitchen-sink rockers Mama Roux. As for the auction, they asked a bunch of artists to turn guitars into one of a kind functional or sculptural art pieces. We’re talkin Joey Mazzola, Kate Daughdrill, Rico Africa, Dan Demaggio, Dave Buick, Rachel Baker and more!

After Dark Volume 1 @ Rubbed

Friday @ 6 PM | Detroit

A new Corktown charcuterie concept eatery called Rubbed is kicking things off with a new, monthly dinner series that commences with its inaugural menu comprised of items such as lemon-beet ceviche, lamb tartare, and cured meat served with freshly pickled treats.

Lac La Belle @ The Holding House

Saturday @ 7 PM | Detroit

As heard on Culture City last week, this folk outfit features multi-instrumentalists who perform with a sense of old world earnestness and restraint that hits the soul like the clear, cutting Autumn evening air.

Jeezy @ The Fox Theatre

Friday @ 8 PM | Detroit

Jeezy only knows one gar: Fifth. He represents the more rugged and raw realms of rap. And while Detroit’s love for Jeezy runs deep, it can sometimes run dangerously. The ‘Thug Motivation’ doth overfloweth. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. At the very least, there will be sweat.

Whiskey Business @ Royal Oak Farmers Market

Friday @ 8 PM | Royal Oak

An exploration of wheat and rye awaits at the newest regional whiskey event: Whiskey Business. Sample your way across continents to discover the best in scotches, bourbons and whiskeys – from locally produced bourbons to single malts, and from small batches to single grains. Meet brand ambassadors that will offer descriptions and insights on many different products while numerous restaurants will be serving various whiskey-inspired appetizers. Live music rounds out the evening in grand fashion, providing entertainment – and whiskey – for all!
