This past week…The Sierra Club released a photo essay detailing the lives of people in Michigan who are impacted by coal-fired power plants. The photo essay is part of the Beyond Coal Campaign, which has worked at retiring over 100 coal-burning power plants across the United States. Now… the Sierra Club wants DTE Energy to close or change operations at its power plant along the Rough River. WDET’s Martina Guzman spoke to organizing representative and national staff person for the Sierra club… Brad VanGuilder. He says Michigan…especially the Southeast region pays a higher cost to its health because of the pollution emitted by coal plants.
