Executive Director of ARISE Detroit! Luther Keith and former City Councilman and current Executive Director of Detroit Future City Ken Cockrel Jr. join Craig to discuss some of the community plans and initiatives set to take place during the upcoming 8th Annual ARISE Detroit! Neighborhoods Day.

"It restores hope and faith in the community," says Keith of the city-wide effort, happening Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014. This year, more than 40 churches and faith-based institutions will participate in Neighborhoods Day, along with local block clubs, community organizations and small businesses. Many of the volunteers expected to help out with more than 200 activites planned for the day, will be coming in from neighborhoods located throughout Metro Detroit.

However, "even though [we've] got a tremendous amount of people coming in, this isn't about other people coming in to save Detroit, this about Detroiters coming out and working with others," to boost the quality of life in their communities, says Cockrel.
