Interactive Map Shows Great Lakes Clean Up Progress

Monday, June 17, 2013

A five year plan to restore the Great Lakes and clean water in the region ends next year. In order to show how much progress has been made, a new interactive map was created by the National Wildlife Federation’s Great Lakes Regional Center. The map shows how polluted lakes were prior to the plan, how much money was spent on cleaning wetlands, and what they look like now.

Andy Buchsbaum is the president of National Wildlife Federation’s Great Lakes Regional Center. He spoke to WDET’s Martina Guzman about creating the interactive map of the Great Lakes and how it shows Michigan’s Lakes as an economic force.

Can Michigan do more to use the Great Lakes as a force for economic development?
