Dzanc Books' Latest Literary Launch

Anna Clark

Dzanc Books, a Westland based independent publishing company, is hoping a new online writing workshop series can help preserve and grow Detroit's literary culture.

Dzanc, launched in 2006, is patterning the new 10-week writing workshop series after New York's celebrated Gotham Writers Workshop. "The series is a natural extension of why Dzanc exists, another opportunity to spark the creative spirit that we know is here and to give people who share it, and opportunity to meet and carry the connections forward,'' said Anna Clark, director of the Dzanc Sessions. Tuition for the series is $325 and helps to offset Dzanc's ongoing nonprofit writing programs with area public schools, says Clark.

Session One begins October 16th. " Detroit has been a literary city in the past through the work of Broadside Press and others, and while there are sad and definite weak spots, the history is still vibrant enough to build on.'' Learn more about Dzanc Books.
