The Concert of Colors is back and Craig speaks with WDET's own Ismael Ahmed, who's a co-founder, co-chair, curator of the annual music event. While Ismael has been previewing some of the musicians set for this year's concert on his WDET weekend show, This Island Earth, today Ismael gets Craig up to speed with some of the top acts scheduled for this year's Concert of Colors.

Son of Nigerian activist and Afropop legend Fela Khuti, Seun Khuti will perform along with his father's band Egypt 80. Refugee All-Stars, Black 47, Thornetta Davis and Dan Hicks are just a few of the other eclectic acts lined up for the event, which begins Saturday, July 12.

"We've been doing it for 22 years, and it's different than most festivals because we do it from the ground up, and expose people to other cultures and in a way we enjoy," says Ismael.
