Detroit’s youth poetry team is in its first day of slam poetry battles at an international poetry competition in Chicago. In the first round of competition the Detroit poets faced off against their peers from Ashville-North Carolina, Philadelphia, Columbia-Connecticut, and Providence-Rhode Island. While the poetry festival is technically a competition, bout host and poet “Robbie Q” reminds the students that it’s more about developing as artists and friends.

Poets/Poems featured:
Annalise Bissa with "Paul"
Briana Sanders with "Stray Dogs"
Terrell Morrow with "Navigating God"
