Eurotwin Powers Activate! Red Wings Take Aim at Ducks

April 29, 2013

The Red Wings making the Stanley Cup playoffs isn’t normally news, since they’ve done it for the past 22 seasons. But this year’s appearance is significant, because they almost DIDN’T qualify for the post-season. The Wings ended the lockout-shortened regular season on Saturday night with a 3-0 victory in Dallas. If they had lost that game in regulation, they would have missed the playoffs for the first time since 1990. Helene St. James covers the Wings for the Free Press. WDET's Pat Batcheller asked her how the Wings managed to turn things around, and why it took so long to clinch a playoff berth. Click on the audio links above to hear the conversation.
