Wayne Faculty Union Seeks Dues Guarantee

February 1, 2013

Wayne State Univesrity’s faculty union is hoping to protect its members from the impact of Michigan’s right-to-work law, which takes effect in the spring. The union wants the university to lock dues into its next contract for 10 years, to shield members from the law banning mandatory membership and fees as a condition of employment. Charlie Parrish is the head of the American Association of University Professors-American Federation of Teachers chapter at Wayne State. WDET's Pat Batcheller asked Parrish to explain why the union is taking this step. Click on the audio link above to hear the conversation.
