With the Tigers’ playoff hopes on life support and football just starting, that chill in the air usually signals that hockey isn’t far away. But maybe not this year. NHL owners have locked out the players, after the two sides failed to reach a new collective bargaining agreement. Will the season start on time? Will there even be hockey this year? Helene St. James covers the Red Wings for the Detroit Free Press. WDET's Pat Batcheller asked her to explain the financial issues that led to the lockout.
