The Threat of Invasive Species in the Great Lakes

The National Wildlife Federation is asking President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney to support efforts to keep Asian carp out of the Great Lakes. A new report says the fish would not only survive in the lakes, they would thrive and spread quickly. Andy Buchsbaum runs the Federation’s Great Lakes office. He tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller that Asian carp pose a much more serious threat than other invasive species that have been introduced to the region over the years, including zebra mussels.
