By Travis Wright

The Sundance Institute is bringing its Film Forward program to the region this week. It offers independent film screenings with guided discussions from the film-makers.

Film-goers from Detroit, Ann Arbor and Dearborn will have the opportunity to experience celebrated indie films such as Fruitvale Station and Valentine Road.

Meredith Lavitt is the director of the Film Forward. She tells WDET’s Travis Wright this year’s theme is “advancing cultural dialogue.”
