Political Cartoonist Wants The Violence To Stop

The city of Detroit has seen more than 140 homicides so far this year. And while you may be used to newspapers covering the details of the crimes, you might not expect to see a cartoon about the subject. Detroit Free Press editorial cartoonist Mike Thompson decided to take on the violence a few weeks ago. His cartoon this week was stunning – with the depiction of a child lying dead in the street.

WDET’s Jerome Vaughn was struck by the cartoon – and talked to Thompson about what inspired the series he’s working on.
