Saul Williams Talks Detroit, the State of Rap, & Aujourd’Hui

For more than a decade, poet, musician and actor Saul Williams has toured college campuses with more sparse spoken word performances, as well as music venues, in which he offers a more raucous live show.

This Sunday, at Cliff Bell’s, he’ll mesh the two presenting a night poetry in an intimate club setting.

On a phone from Harlem with WDET's Travis Wright, Williams comments on the state of hip hop, his new film Aujourd’Hui and how he shifts between musical and the poetic modes.
