Oakland Township is looking for a new name for a local park. Oakland Township officials are asking residents to submit ideas about what to call the Marsh View Connector, so that it isn’t as easily confused with its neighbor, Marsh View Park. Andrew Zale is chair of the Parks Board. He says the space is undeveloped now, but the township has plans to convert it into a parking lot within a few years.

“But since this will be five acres, it will not be a five-acre parking lot. There’s some elevation changes. So it really is a nice beautiful little area with trees and does have the brush, but there’s access to Paint Creek Trail. So the thought would be, make a real nice parking lot there, maybe some restrooms, maybe some picnic areas.”

Zale says the space would provide amenities for visitors of the nearby Paint Creek Trail. He says the Parks Department is accepting name submissions online until next Wednesday.
