The Michigan Audio Heritage Society is opening a brick-and-mortar museum in Detroit this weekend. Its founder is Brad Hales, a noted Detroit DJ, musicologist, and the owner of Peoples Records in Midtown..

He says many exhibitions will examine specific eras of Detroit music. The museum’s grand opening features an exhibition of the Detroit independent record labels Tribe and Strata.

Tribe founder Phil Ranelin will celebrate his 75th birthday with two concerts at the neighboring Trinosophes venue in Eastern Market tonight and tomorrow.

Culture City host Travis Wright got a lesson on '70s Detroit Jazz when he caught up with Hales as the space was under construction.
