Finest Folk: Lac La Belle Play Live from the Wintry Record "A Friend Too Long"

October 31, 2014

By Travis Wright

The celebrated Detroit folk duo Lac La Belle play live and speak with WDET's Travis Wright about their latest release, "A Friend Too Long." Lac La Belle is an acoustic duo comprised of multi-instrumentalists and songwriters Jennie Knaggs and Nick Schillace. They play live with bassist Serge Van der Voo.

There's a record release show November 8th at The Holding House, in Detroit.

They say the new record elaborates upon their cohesive duo of resonator guitar, banjo, accordion and ukulele, with the addition of upright bass, pump organ, piano, percussion and strings.

Written in a secluded cabin in Michigan's upper peninsula, and recorded in their Detroit home during the snowiest winter on record, "A Friend Too Long" provides beautiful soundscapes and a journey of characters that sound at once both new, and reminiscent of days long past.

A very special thank you to WDET's Alex Trajano for engineering the live session.
