Michigan Congressman Argues for Aid to Tear Down Abandoned Homes

Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee has introduced the ‘Revitalize America Act’, which would reassign nearly one-billion dollars in federal aid to demolish abandoned homes in cities like Detroit and Flint. The goal of the legislation is to stabilize neighborhoods and help bolster home values. Representative Kildee tells WDET’s J. Carlisle Larsen that this money is already allocated to help communities and won’t lead to an increase in government spending.
