Secretary Stresses Motorcycle Safety Amid More Accidents, Deaths

The number of people who died in motorcycle accidents in Michigan rose 18 percent last year, and Southeast Michigan saw a 17 percent increase in all crashes involving bikes. Those numbers come from the state Office of Highway Safety Planning and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, respectively. With the arrival of warm weather, Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is urging bikers and other motorists to make safety a priority. She spoke with WDET's Pat Batcheller.
