Blush & Squeal: John Waters Talks Dirty

February 12, 2015

By Travis Wright

John Waters is a dirty old man in the most professional, polite, and poetic of ways. Dubbed "the Pope of Trash" by the less than pristine writer William S. Burroughs, he's been riffing on and demystifying American culture for more than 40 years.

An auteur with a deservedly loyal cult following, Waters is of course famous for camp indie comedies such as "Hairspray," Cry Baby," and "Pink Flamingos." But he's also an accomplished writer and performer.

Waters brings the latest iteration of his one-man-show 'This Filthy World: Dirtier & Filthier' to town on Thursday (Feb. 12th)when he kicks-off Detroit's annual artful celebration of of sex and sexuality, The Dirty Show.

He talks dirty and more with WDET's Travis Wright.
