Lawmaker's Bill Would Ease Pot Penalties

An Ann Arbor state lawmaker wants to reduce the penalties for people caught with small amounts of marijuana. Democrat Jeff Irwin’s bill would make having an ounce of pot or less a civil infraction, meaning defendants would only pay a fine. Right now, the penalty is up to three months in jail.
