Honda Expands Airbag Recall

Honda has expanded a recall of vehicles to fix airbag inflation problems. WDET’s Jerome Vaughn has more. SOQ

The recall now includes certain Accord and Civic sedans…Odyssey minivans…and CR-V and Pilot sport utility vehicles from the 2001 through 2003 model years.

The expanded action involves about 273-thousand additional vehicles in the U-S.

The automaker says the driver’s side airbag could inflate with too much pressure. The problem could cause the airbag inflator to rupture during a crash…increasing the possibility of injury and death.

Affected owners will be notified by mail beginning later this month. Honda will replace the airbag inflator at no cost to consumers.
