Heidelberg Project Launching Multi Million Dollar Capital Campaign

“What responsibility do our city officials and government officials, who clearly benefit from our work play in [preserving our work].” - Jenenne Whitfield

The Heidelberg Project is launching a three million dollar capital campaign. The project has been in the works for months but efforts to raise money ramped up last week after another fire ravaged one of the structures known as the penny house. The open-air art installation draws an estimated 275 - thousand visitors annually from around the world to Detroit’s East Side. Jenenne Whitfield is the Executive Director of the Heidelberg Project. She spoke to WDET’s Martina Guzman about the urgency of preserving the legacy created by artist Tyree Guyton.
