"They see things as positive -- coming out of the evil in the world."

With three galleries across the tri-county area, the Museum of New Art's space in Midtown Detroit will soon host international art stars The Gao Brothers. No better excuse to check out a new gallery than this, folks.

Making waves in the art world since the 1980s, these two Beijing-based visual artists' make work that comments on the pitfalls of communist society and cross-cultural issues that resonate around the globe. As artists, the Gao Brothers are as provocative as they are proficient.

Jeff Jef Bourgeau is the founder and director of the Museum of New Art. When he spoke about the show -- titled "Dissidents Abroad" -- with WDET's Travis Wright at the gallery, Bourgeau recalled the first time he encountered their work.
