Ford Names Mark Fields As Chief Operating Officer

Thursday, November 1, 2012

Ford has named Mark Fields as the automaker's new Chief Operating Officer.

As COO, Mark Fields will lead all of Ford’s business operations. He’ll take the new position on December first.

Fields has served as Ford’s President of the Americas since 2005.

President and CEO Alan Mulally gives Fields much of the credit for turning around Ford’s North American operations.

“His relentless implementation of the plan resulted in the performance that you saw in this last third quarter, which is for North America, the highest operating performance ever in the history.”

Ford also announced that Mulally will remain as the company’s President and CEO until at least 2014. He’ll continue to lead the company’s long-term strategic development plans.
