No Flu Shot? State Says It's Not Too Late.

January 9, 2013

The flu bug bit hard and early in Michigan this year. The state health department has confirmed about 300 cases of influenza so far this season. Thousands more may get the virus, but won’t get treated or their doctors won’t report it. Pat Vranesich is the section manager of the immunization division at the Michigan Department of Community Health. She says cases in the Southern U-S around Thanksgiving were the first sign that we would have an early flu season. She also told WDET's Pat Batcheller that it's not too late to get a flu shot if you haven't yet. Click on the audio link above to hear the conversation.

The state has an influenza information page on its web site. Check it out here.
