Ficano Announces Deputy Executive's Resignation

Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano is shaking up his administration. During a news conference late Thursday afternoon, Ficano announced that he has accepted the resignation of Deputy Executive Azzam Elder.

Elder received a 30 day suspension last month…as the investigation began into the 200-thousand dollar severance package for Turkia Mullin.

Ficano says changes needed to be made.

“It’s important to me to have people beside me who I can trust and rely on. Now, with the status of the current controversies that could go on for some time – the current executive team in place would do nothing but cause further distractions and impede the progressive flow of daily county business.”

Ficano selected former U-S Attorney Jeffrey Collins to replace Elder. Other changes in his administration include Zenna Elhasan as the county’s new corporation counsel and Raymond Byers as the new chief of economic development.
