Workers at Detroit’s Wastewater Treatment Plant detected a sulfur dioxide leak yesterday afternoon. Plant officials are investigating the leak.

Sewage Plant Supervisor Majid Khan says the leak was contained and no one was hurt.

Was a very minor routine leak. When you have gas in the system, when you are operating that there may be a small, minute hole or it could be a small leaking. But it was taken care of right away."

Khan says the leak did not affect the treatment of wastewater. He says the plant has a 75-year track record with only one catastrophic incident.
