Get It While It's Hot: Detroit Soup Turns 5 at Ford Field

February 13, 2015

At Detroit Soup events attendees get a small homemade meal and then hear four presentations on projects that positively affect Detroit neighborhoods, from art and urban agriculture to social justice initiatives.

Each presenter is vying for the pot of money collected from a small suggested entry fee donation. It’s live crowd-funding.

The director of Soup, Amy Kaherl tells WDET’s Travis Wright the model works for some projects, as opposed to applying for grant money from major foundations.

Soup is celebrating its five year anniversary Sunday with a party at Ford Field. You can learn more today on WDET’s Culture City.
