Techno Pioneer Derrick May Remembers 'Godfather of House' Frankie Knuckles

It's Movement Electronic Music Festival weekend in Detroit, and so the world here Motor City to celebrate all kinds of electronic music, especially Detroit Techno.

But Chicago House music is probably a close second. These two cities and their unique approach to electronic music has spawned both mutual respect and rivalry over decades.

Two Months ago, the electronic music lost the "Godfather of House,' Frankie Knuckles. He was a contemporary of Detroit techno pioneers Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, and Derrick May.

Derrick May tells WDET’s Travis Wright that he sold Knuckles a prime piece of equipment, and that Knuckles also named one of his most famous tracks.
