Beat the Heat! Find Out How...

The Detroit Recreation Department is responding to the extreme heat this week by using four rec centers as cooling centers for residents, especially those without air conditioning. They include:

Coleman A. Young, 2751 Robert Bradby Dr, 1-9 pm Tues-Fri Crowell, 16630 Lahser, 1-9 pm Tues-Fri Farwell, 2781 East Outer Drive, 10am-6pm Tues-Fri Patton, 2301 Woodmere, 10am-6pm Tues-Fri

In addition, all Detroit Public Library branches will be available for residents who need to stay cool. WDET's Pat Batcheller spoke with Recreation Director Lori Cunningham. She says residents will have to arrange their own transportation to the cooling centers, but urges neighbors to check on each other, especially older residents.
