Charles Bradley is a Victim of Love

At 64 years-old, soul singer Charles Bradley is out with just his second album ever, Victim of Love.

Recently released on Daptone Records, the notorious New York record label that is rightfully accredited with almost single handedly keeping the genre alive, Bradley is backed by the Menahan Street Band as his weathered growl scratches at the uncomfortable screens that separate loathing and love.

At his age, it’s not easy heading out on the road, trying to grow an audience with a new set of soul classics that relatively nobody has ever heard.

That much is evident in listening to his new record’s lead single “Strictly Reserved For You.”

As he was prepping for his show tonight at the Magic Bag in Ferndale, Bradley told WDET's Travis Wright that he lives for the stage, where his soul is most at ease.

“That’s Strictly Reserved For You” from the new Charles Bradley record Victim of Love. Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires play the Magic Bag in Ferndale tonight. Find tickets here.
