Off The Wall: 'Canvas Detroit' Puts Public Art in Your Hands

May 5, 2014

By Travis Wright

A new book called Canvas Detroit examines contemporary artists who use the physical landscape of the city in their work. It's the latest from Wayne State University Press.

Canvas Detroit is the culmination of five-years of work from authors Julie Pincus of New York, and Detroit-based Nichole Christian. They spoke about "Canvas Detroit" with WDET’s Travis Wright.

Pincus says the idea for the book was born during a trip to Detroit.

Nicole Christian and Julie Pincus co-authored “Canvas Detroit.”

There’s a book release with the authors on Wednesday at 5:00 pm in the Kresge Court at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
