Hoops Hysteria for UM, MSU, UDM

March 12, 2012

The University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and the University of Detroit-Mercy have all qualified for the NCAA men's basketball tournament. This is the first time since 1999 that the Detroit Titans have been invited. UDM marketing professor Mike Bernacchi says it's a chance for the university to share the national spotlight with the larger schools, and reap some benefits from being a part of the phenomenon known as "March Madness". WDET's Pat Batcheller spoke with Prof. Bernacchi. Click on the audio link above to hear the conversation.

The Titans will face Kansas in the Midwest regional on Friday in Omaha, Nebraska. Michigan State is the top seed in the West region, and will play Long Island University-Brooklyn on Friday in Columbus, Ohio. Michigan will play the Mid-American Conference champion Ohio University on Friday in Nashville, Tennessee.
