Dr. Dan's Rx for Health Reform

Monday, August 27, 2012

The Republican National Convention was scheduled to start today in Tampa, but most events have been postponed until Tuesday due to Isaac. One of Monday afternoon's speakers was supposed to be Michigan Congressman Dan Benishek, a physician who earned his medical degree at Wayne State. He represents the northern Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula, where he was born. Dr. Benishek's remarks have been rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon. "Dr. Dan", as he likes to be called, says he was surprised when he got an e-mail from House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) to address the delegates. Dr. Benishek favors repealing the Affordable Care Act, and reforming Medicre and Social Security. He also says President Obama's stimulus spending hasn't done enough to create jobs in his district. He spoke with WDET's Pat Batcheller. Click the audio link above to hear the conversation.
