Airport Director Turkia Mullin Fired

The CEO of the Wayne County Airport has been fired. The Airport’s Board of Directors voted five to two Monday afternoon to remove Turkia Mullin from her post.

Mullin has been in the forefront of media reports since it was discovered that she received a 200-thousand dollar severance package after leaving a job in Wayne County government to become the new airport director.

She returned the money, minus taxes, after a public backlash. The repayment of the money did not quiet criticism.

Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano has suspended three executives since the severance became public knowledge. The FBI has begun an investigation.
