Americans have about two more weeks to enroll in the health exchange created by the Affordable Care Act. So far nearly 300,000 state residents have signed up to receive health insurance in 2015 through the exchange. US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell says almost 90% of Michiganders who’ve opted in this year have received financial assistance through tax credits.

“This is what’s making this affordable for so many Americans, putting them in a place for many working Americans, that they’re able to purchase health insurance that both is about their health and well-being but is also about their financial security.”

Burwell says, nationally, the majority of people who obtained coverage last year paid $100 per month or less, with the help of tax credits. Open enrollment closes February 15th.
