Tigers An Early Out In AL Playoffs

October 6, 2014

The Detroit Tigers season has come to a close after being swept by the Baltimore Orioles in the division round of the American League playoffs. The Tigers reached at least as far as the AL championship game each of the past three seasons. But this year has been a struggle throughout, and losing a decisive third straight playoff game to Baltimore capped the team’s struggles. The Tigers could never overcome a two-run homer by the Orioles, even though David Price put in a stronger pitching performance than the middling efforts by Game One and Two starters Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. Now Detroit heads into the off-season with Scherzer and key hitters Victor Martinez and Torii Hunter as free agents.
