Family: Hockey Legend Howe Feeling Better

December 1, 2014

Family members of Red Wings legend Gordie Howe say his condition is improving following a series of strokes. Howe is recovering at his daughter’s home in Texas after suffering strokes since last summer, including several this fall and a small one only days ago. Yet family members reportedly say Howe is getting better overall and experiencing less pain than in recent weeks. The hockey legend is also suffering from dementia -- a fact that was revealed after he sued his former management company in 2007 for withholding profits from memorabilia sales, and later sued it again for destroying some historic material featuring Howe. He was awarded $3 million by the court. Attorneys for the management company say they will file for a new trial but are delaying at the moment out of respect for the medical situation being dealt with by the Howe family.
