Expert: US Not Ready For Stem Cells That Helped Gordie Howe

Hockey legend Gordie Howe is reportedly making an astounding comeback from a series of strokes. His family says the attacks left him bedridden and barely able to speak.

Howe is showing remarkable progress after being treated with stem cells from a California company working with officials in Mexico. Mister Hockey was able to walk through a mall and play soccer and street hockey with his great grandchildren – even faking one way and then shooting the other to score a goal. But an expert in treating strokes – University of Michigan Assistant Professor Dr. Eric Adelman – tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter the kind of stem cell therapy Howe used is available in Europe, Russia and Mexico – but not yet ready for use in the US…
