Classical Music By Way Of China Arrives In Detroit

This weekend those attending Detroit’s regular Palmer Woods Music-In-Homes concert series will hear a taste of classical music – by way of China. Musician Xiao Dong Wei -- master of an ancient Chinese instrument that resembles an elongated, two-stringed violin called the erhu – will mesh her sound with a viola and cello played by members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. She talked about the performance and her life with WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter – and even played a bit of the erhu along the way…
