Buffalo Bills Give Detroit Lions The Boot

October 6, 2014

The Detroit Lions were one kick away from a likely victory.

Instead it was the Buffalo Bills that gave the Lions the boot… Detroit had a chance to pull out the win in the final moments, but kicker Alex Henery missed his third field goal of the game and Buffalo took over with seconds to go. The Bills Dan Carpenter drilled a 58-yard kick with four seconds left and Buffalo took the victory 17-to-14, as the team carried its defensive coordinator – former Lions Head Coach Jim Schwartz -- off the field. The kicking game has been Detroit’s undoing so far this year. In a season where 7 of the 10 most accurate kickers in NFL history are playing the Lions have made only one of nine kicks from longer than 30 yards away. The team has a league-worst field goal accuracy rate of about 33 percent.
