Big Sports Day Means No Jury Duty In Detroit

September 8, 2014

Jury duty is cancelled today for those scheduled to appear in Detroit because fans attending some high-profile sporting events are expected to clog most of the available parking. Lions and Tigers and jurors. Oh my! Officials say that mix just won’t work today – there’s not enough parking. Tens of thousands of fans will be in the city to watch the Tigers host a key series against the Kansas City Royals and tailgaters will be out in force for the Lions season opener against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Jurors scheduled to be at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center will be notified by mail what date they should now report there. Jurors who were supposed to be at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice today should instead be in court tomorrow.
