Author Says Baseball Faces Tough Task To Strike Out Doping

Major League Baseball puts its best and brightest on display in its annual All-Star game. But one of baseball’s biggest names – Alex Rodriguez – won’t be there. He’s serving a year-long suspension for using banned performance enhancing drugs supplied by a company called Biogenesis. The journalist who broke the Biogenesis story – the Miami New Times’ Tim Elfrink – is the co-author of a new book called “Blood Sport” that follows the story of doping in the big leagues…and how it stretches all the way to a former member of the Detroit Tigers. Elfrink tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter the expose originated from something that had nothing to do with baseball…
