Recently Detroit police officials said they plan to seek criminal charges against an emergency dispatcher who waited more than an hour before sending help to people who had called 911. That delay led to one person being critically wounded. Another similar incident resulted in a person who called 911 being stabbed to death. Experts in emergency dispatch systems say the situation can be improved if Detroit adopts a better system for prioritizing calls.
