The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has secured its second consecutive budget surplus.

The DSO announced the news at a meeting of its governing board Thursday.

Anne Parsons is the President and CEO of the organization. She spoke with WDET’s Jerome Vaughn. Parsons says the orchestra is following a 10 year plan to strengthen its financial outlook.

Parsons also says her contract - and the contract of Music Director Leonard Slatkin - have been extended into 2017.
