So What Next? Detroit Faces Challenges After Bankruptcy

A judge has approved Detroit’s plan to emerge from bankruptcy, but there’s still some work to be done before the city officially leaves Chapter Nine protection. Judge Steven Rhodes has a status hearing Monday, where lawyers are expected to present a list of issues that still have to be settled. He also has to choose the date when the city’s restructuring plan takes effect, officially ending Detroit’s bankruptcy.
